About Wood-Pressed Coconut Oil
Wood-pressed (mara chekku) coconut oil from our family unit in Maniyampalayam, Tirupur. We use only coconuts that fall naturally when fully mature, dry the kernels in the sun and press them slowly in a wooden chekku.
What makes it different

- Sun-dried copra, no sulphur. Many brands use sulphur to dry copra faster; we don't.
- Unrefined. No solvents, bleaching or deodorising, and no preservatives.

How to use it
- Cooking: Kerala-style curries, poriyal, chutneys, dosa and sweets.
- Hair: warm a little and massage into the scalp before a head bath.

How it is made
Naturally fallen coconuts are collected from our groves, the kernels are sun-dried into copra, and the copra is pressed slowly in a wooden chekku. The oil is left to settle and then filtered. Nothing is added.
Wood-Pressed Coconut Oil: common questions
Is 7LAND coconut oil good for cooking?
Yes. It is an unrefined edible coconut oil, suited to South Indian and Kerala-style cooking, sautéing and sweets. It has the natural aroma of coconut.
Can I use it on hair and skin?
Yes. Families use the same oil for hair massage, skin care and baby massage because nothing is added to it.
Why has the oil turned white or solid?
Pure coconut oil solidifies in cool weather, usually below about 24°C. It is still fine to use. Place the bottle in warm water for a few minutes and it will melt.
Is it sulphur-free?
Yes. Our copra is sun-dried. We do not use sulphur to dry or preserve it.
